Diabetes Prevention Program

Andrea Haubner, Extension Agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension. One key feature of the National DPP is the CDC-recognized lifestyle change program, a research-based program focusing on healthy eating and physical activity which showed that people with pre-diabetes who take part in a structured lifestyle change program can cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% (71% for people over 60 years old).

Tuesdays, 11:45 am – 12:45 pm (Gym – Dannie Lee) & Thursdays, 9:45 am (Atrium -Teresa Wells). An easy-to-follow program that lets you move to the beat at your own speed. The Zumba Gold Live It Up System is the total body wellness experience.
Woodshop Safety Orientation

Every 1st Monday of the Month. If you are interested in working in the Woodshop, you must complete the Safety Orientation.
NOTE: We will be cleaning the shop every 1st Monday after the safety orientation and ask that all woodworkers come and help. Wood Shop Closed will be closed for a Summer Break from Monday, July 3 and reopen on Monday, July 17. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Basic Bowl Turning Class #1
Thursdays & Fridays, August 3, 4, 10, & 11, 9 am – 2 pm | Wood Shop
Larry Eidson and Ron Grooms will be teaching a 4-Session/Classes on Basic Bowl Turning. Cost is $100.00, which covers all your materials; with $50.00 due on first day of class paid to the instructors and the final payment is due on the last day. You will make two bowls, one out of Maple wood and one out of Walnut wood. Also you will learn two different styles of turning bowls. Class is limited to 4 people to sign up for class to be held.

Off the Grid Zipline

Cost is $37.00 for transportation and Zip Line Fee. Off The Grid Mountain Adventures features one of the longest zip lines in the country, at nearly 3000 feet long, the length of 10 football fields, and close to 300 feet above the canyon floor, reaching speeds up to 60 miles per hour. We need a minimum of 20 to sign up in order for trip to go. Lunch is on your own at Dairy Queen. NOTE: There is no age or height limit, but there is a maximum weight limit of 275 lbs.

Billiards Tournament

This will be an 8-ball tournament singles play best of three games with double elimination. Cost is free. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place only, sponsored by Kim Howell, Marketing Liaison with Visiting Angels. NOTE: We will play on all four tables in billiards room.
