Diabetes Prevention Program

Andrea Haubner, Extension Agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension. One key feature of the National DPP is the CDC-recognized lifestyle change program, a research-based program focusing on healthy eating and physical activity which showed that people with pre-diabetes who take part in a structured lifestyle change program can cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% (71% for people over 60 years old).

Memory and Brain Health
Will not meet in November or December due to the holidays. The next meeting will be 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 25th.
Every 4th Thursday of the month. Topic of discussion “The Effects of Stress on Memory” Guest speaker, Michelle Miller, Gerontologist with Home Instead will join us to discuss the effects as well as strategies to decrease stress and boost cognitive ability. Research shows the effects of stress reach beyond physical and emotional changes to affect cognitive health as well.

Neuro Yoga

Neuro Yoga is chair-based yoga for brain health, which will build resilience, improve mood, reduce pain, and reduce stress. Cost is free to our members, no yoga experience is required.
Cornhole Tournament

This tournament will be doubles playing the best three games, with double elimination. Cost is Free. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place only, sponsored by Caitlin Bailey, Regional Sales Specialist with Farm Bureau Health Plans. TN Lady Vols Basketball
Sunday, February 4 | 9:30 am | $57 | Knoxville, TN
Join us for the Lady Vols vs. Missouri game. This game we will be seating in Section 107. Cost is $57 which includes your game ticket and transportation. Game time is 2pm and we will be able to get in at 1pm. Sign-ups will start on Thu, Jan 4, 2024 in the Office. We have 46 tickets available and a (2) ticket limit per person. Lunch is on your own at Aubrey’s Restaurant
