  • he Center will be offering a Bob Ross Style Painting class on Wednesday, December 20,2017 from 10:00am until 2:00pm in Room 303.  The class is a $50 fee paid to the instructor day of class. Supplies are covered in the fee. Please bring your lunch. Sign up NOW!!
  •      Want to experiment and learn new recipes? Come by the Center to sign up for The Melting Pot on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 11:30am until 1:30pm in the lounge. This cooking class, taught by Donna Chmeilnik, will show you how to create a new cuisine you may not have tried before. This class is limited to 10 people ONLY!!! The cost is $3 paid at sign up and $2 the day of class. Stop by the Center Office to sign up now!!
  •    Do you have a knack for decorating or you just love flowers? Our Flower Arranging Class on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 10:00am until 11:00am would be perfect for you! The class takes place in Room 310 and is $15.00 paid at sign up. Sign up has already begun. We will decorate a swag of fresh winter greens for your front doors! Please bring ribbon scissors as well as flower stem scissors. We will be using a combination of fresh and artificial materials as well as using hot glue. This class is a great opportunity to decorate your front door for the Holidays! Susan Valentine will teach this class and we can accept a max of 29 students. Stop by the office to sign up NOW!!

Flower Arranging Class

  • Jerry Stout, Special Agent, Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will be at the Center on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 am in Room 310. Topic of discussion will be “Sudden Violence-Surviving an Active Shooter”: Throughout the United States, acts of sudden and unexpected violence in schools, shopping mall, churches, office buildings, and other public locations have been on the rise. Events like the shootings in Virginia, Colorado, Oregon, and Connecticut raise awareness of the continuing national problem. This presentation–intended for businesses, schools, and other private entities–will provide vital information about mitigating the threat posed by individuals who carry out acts of violence, along with information that addresses intervention, clarifies the role of those involved, and how to effectively respond to the problem. (This is not a tactical training course) Lunch is sponsored by Kim Howell, Marketing Liaison with Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services and will be served after the presentation. Sign-ups start on Thursday, November 16, 2017 or call 423-392-8400, there is a limit of 75 seats available.
  • Our Flower Arranging class will meet on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00am in the Multipurpose Room. The cost for this class is $10.00 and is paid at sign up.   • Our Bob Ross Style Painting Class will meet on Wednesday, January 16, 2017 from 10:00am – 2:00pm in room 303 with instructor Jay Holdway. The cost is $50.00 paid to instructor the day of class and this covers all your materials. Please bring your lunch. You may sign up by calling 392-8400.
  • The “Melting Pot” cooking class will be held on Monday, January 22, 2017 at 11:30am. In this class you will learn how to make a variety of foods from different areas of the world such as; Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, French, Japanese, German, and even good ole Southern cooking. Each Monday you will learn a different style of cooking. You will also be given recipes to take home in class. This class will be $3.00 due at sign up and you will need to bring $2.00 the day of class. Sign up for this class began on December 11.
  • Cooking with Tracy will be on Monday, January 8,2017 at 11:00am-1:00pm in the Lounge. This class will be limited to 10 people ONLY!!! The fee is $5 paid at sign up.

Lynn View Programs & Classes

  • Intermediate Drawing Classes at Lynn View meets on Tuesday’s (beginning January 9) from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the cafeteria. During the winter semester, we will be studying the human portrait from various points of view. We will work primarily with graphite pencil and paper. Must have drawing experience. Call Lynn View at 765-9047 for availability. Class is limited to 22 participants.
  • Beginning Crochet class will meet on Fridays, January 12 – February 16, 2018 at Lynn view in the lounge from 11:00 –Noon, in these beginner classes, you will use basic stitches and learn how to make a scarf. Cost: $20.00 paid to instructor. Please call Lynn view community center at 756-9047 and sign up by January 5. Class is limited to 4 participants.
  • Intermediate Crochet class will meet on Fridays, January 12 – February 16, 2018 at Lynn view in the lounge from 9:30 – 10:30am, during these classes, participants will make a project of their choosing, please pick project/pattern you would like to do so instructor has time to review them. Cost: $ 20.00 paid to instructor. Please call Lynn view and be signed up by January 5. Class is limited to 6 participants.

  • A Winterizing Your Home program will be held at Lynn View on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 12:30pm. Join us as Doug Clark walks you through things you need to do to help save on your energy costs, etc. Call Lynn View and sign up by January 10.

  • Cooking with Chef Joe will be held at Lynn View on January 22 at 12:30pm. Chef Joseph McCray will facilitate the program. Copies of the recipe will be given along with a demonstration of the recipe and you will be able to try the food, so come hungry! This class will give you tips on cooking techniques for 1 person or 2 and will give ideas to keep you out of a food rut. This month Chef is preparing Pinto Beans with Ham Hocks and Joe’s cornbread.   • A Card Making Workshop will be held at Lynn View in the lounge on Monday, January 29 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Cost is $10.00 paid to instructor Lisa Pecorini. In the workshop you will make 4 cards. All supplies will be provided. Call Lynn View and sign up by January 16. Class is limited to 8 participants.
